Manufacturability CheckSmall design differences can decide whether a part folds cleanly, clashes with tooling, needs a different bend sequence, or has to be redesigned before production.

For example, two U-channels can look almost identical on a drawing — both around 1000 mm long, with only a small difference in return height or internal width — but one may fold with the available gooseneck tooling while the other may hit the punch body during the fold sequence. Catching that before release can save a lot of time, cost and frustration.

We can help check this before production

We can review your brackets, covers, channels, guards, panels and folded parts before they are sent for cutting or folding. The goal is to spot practical fabrication issues early, so you are not stuck with parts that need rework, special tooling, extra supplier back-and-forth or a full redesign later.

  • Check whether folded parts have enough clearance for press brake tooling, including gooseneck tooling where required
  • Review flange heights, return folds, bend sequence, minimum internal widths and whether the part can physically be formed
  • Flag holes, slots, cutouts or countersinks that are too close to bends or likely to distort during folding
  • Suggest small design changes that keep the function the same but make the part easier, cheaper or more reliable to manufacture
  • Help reduce headaches down the line by checking manufacturability before production, not after parts have already been cut

FAQ

Is this different from CAD or reverse engineering?

Yes. CAD work creates or cleans the file. Fabrication consulting focuses on whether the design is realistic to manufacture, what process suits it and what needs to change before production.

Can you advise before I send parts to a fabricator?

Yes. We can review drawings, sketches or CAD files and point out likely issues with folding, welding, material thickness, process choice and cost before you commit.

Do I need finished drawings?

No. Rough sketches, photos, screenshots or early CAD models are often enough for an initial manufacturability review.
